What we build

Backend Development: what we build

Server logic, data models and services in Node.js, Python, PHP and more. Here are the six kinds of backend development services work we are asked for most often.

Architecture patterns

Four backend architectures, and when each one fits

The simplest architecture that meets your needs is usually the right one. We move to more complex patterns only when scale or team size calls for it.

How we deliver

How we deliver Backend Development

  1. 01

    Domain modelling

Entities, rules and boundaries agreed with your experts.

  2. 02

    Architecture and API design

Pattern, data model and API contracts defined first.

  3. 03

    Build with tests

Services built with automated unit and integration tests.

  4. 04

    Performance and security checks

Load, query and vulnerability checks before release.

  5. 05

    Deploy and observe

Automated deployment with logging, metrics and alerts.

Straight answers

Is Backend Development right for you?

We would rather recommend less than sell you more. Here is how we judge it.

A good fit when

  • Your app is slowing down as usage grows
  • Business rules are scattered or hard to change
  • Mobile apps or partners need reliable APIs
  • You need better security or audit capability
  • The issue is the interface, not the server

If pages feel slow but APIs are fast, see Frontend Development.

  • Microservices are planned for a small product

A modular monolith is usually faster to build and easier to run.

  • A backend-as-a-service would do

For simple apps, a managed backend may be enough at first.

FAQ

Backend Development FAQ

What does a backend developer build?

A backend developer builds the server-side logic, APIs, databases, authentication and background processing that a website or app depends on. The backend decides how data is stored, secured and served to every screen.

Which backend language should we use?

Choose based on your team, ecosystem and workload: Node.js suits real-time and JavaScript teams, Python suits data and AI-heavy work, PHP with Laravel suits fast web delivery, and .NET suits Microsoft-centric enterprises. All are proven at scale.

Should we use microservices?

Usually not at first. A well-structured modular monolith is faster to build and simpler to run; microservices make sense when several teams need to release independently or parts of the system scale very differently.

How do you make a backend scale?

We design stateless services, optimise database queries and indexes, add caching and queues for heavy work, and scale horizontally behind a load balancer, measuring with load tests before and after.

Can you take over an existing backend?

Yes. We start with a code, architecture and security review, stabilise the riskiest areas, add tests and monitoring, and then improve or refactor in stages.

How do you secure backend systems?

We apply secure authentication, least-privilege access, input validation, encryption, dependency patching and audit logging, and test against the OWASP Top 10 before release.
