What we build

Web Security: what we build

Hardening, OWASP-focused code reviews and vulnerability fixes. Here are the six kinds of web application security services work we are asked for most often.

OWASP Top 10

The OWASP Top 10 (2021) and what we do about each

The OWASP Top 10 lists the most critical web application security risks. We check and fix every category on the applications we secure.

Risk What we do
A01 Broken Access Control Enforce permissions on every request; test role boundaries
A02 Cryptographic Failures Encrypt data in transit and at rest; remove weak algorithms
A03 Injection Parameterised queries, input validation and output encoding
A04 Insecure Design Threat modelling and secure design reviews
A05 Security Misconfiguration Harden servers, frameworks and cloud settings
A06 Vulnerable and Outdated Components Track and patch dependencies continuously
A07 Identification and Authentication Failures Two-factor sign-in, secure sessions, account lockout
A08 Software and Data Integrity Failures Signed builds, verified updates and secure pipelines
A09 Security Logging and Monitoring Failures Central logging, alerts and incident runbooks
A10 Server-Side Request Forgery Validate and restrict outbound requests

Straight answers

Is Web Security right for you?

We would rather recommend less than sell you more. Here is how we judge it.

A good fit when

  • A scan or penetration test found issues to fix
  • Your site has been compromised or defaced
  • Libraries and plugins are out of date
  • Customers or auditors ask about your security
  • You need an independent penetration test

Testing by a separate team gives an independent view; see Security Testing.

  • You need formal certification

Certification such as ISO 27001 is a wider organisational programme.

  • The site will be replaced soon

Fix critical issues only, and build the new site securely.

FAQ

Web Security FAQ

What is the OWASP Top 10?

The OWASP Top 10 is a widely used list of the ten most critical security risks to web applications, published by the Open Worldwide Application Security Project. It covers issues such as broken access control, injection and security misconfiguration.

What is the difference between web security services and security testing?

Security testing finds vulnerabilities through scans and penetration tests. Web security services fix them in code, configuration and hosting, and put protections such as firewalls, patching and monitoring in place.

Our website was hacked. Can you help?

Yes. We contain the incident, remove malicious code, find how the attacker got in, close the gap, restore from clean backups where needed and add monitoring to catch any repeat.

How often should a website be security-patched?

Critical security patches should be applied as soon as possible, usually within days. We recommend a regular update routine with automated alerts for vulnerable dependencies.

Do you secure WordPress sites?

Yes. We update core, themes and plugins, remove unused plugins, enforce strong admin access with two-factor sign-in, add a web application firewall and monitor for malware.

Can you help us answer customer security questionnaires?

Yes. We document your application's security controls and help prepare accurate answers, and fix gaps the questionnaire reveals.
