What is WCAG 2.2?

WCAG 2.2 is the current version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C, released in October 2023. It sets out testable success criteria at levels A, AA and AAA, and level AA is the target most laws and organisations use.

Is web accessibility a legal requirement?

In many markets, yes. Examples include the Americans with Disabilities Act in the US, the European Accessibility Act, applying from June 2025, and India's Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act; requirements vary by country and sector.

Do accessibility overlay widgets work?

No. Overlay widgets cannot fix underlying problems in code and content, and many disabled users find them unhelpful. Real accessibility requires fixing the site itself.

How do you test accessibility?

We combine automated scans, which catch around a third of issues, with manual checks, keyboard-only navigation and testing with screen readers such as NVDA and VoiceOver.

How long does an accessibility audit take?

It depends on the number of templates and journeys in scope. We audit representative templates and key journeys rather than every page, which gives reliable results quickly.

How do we keep the site accessible after fixes?

We add automated accessibility checks to your release pipeline, provide accessible components, and train developers and editors so new content stays compliant.
